Delivering business performance through future-proofing talent strategies

“How do you future-proof your talent strategy to deliver capabilities for services you haven’t even envisaged yet?”

Dudley Building Society is on a rapid growth trajectory, making a sustainable impact within the Black Country for customers, the community and the climate. Driven by strong values of mutuality, and recognising the strategic advantage of an aligned talent management, they are investing in their people today for tomorrow’s capability. According to research by the Financial Services Skills Commission (FSSC) demand for future skills in financial services is 20% short of supply with 1 in 8 jobs in FS now being technology centric, double the proportion in the wider economy. All this is slowing the pace of innovation and growth across the industry.

What if it were possible to fully appreciate and celebrate all the best bits of your organisational culture, whilst identifying the evolution in talent required to achieve the business’s future ambitions? This was the challenge that Dudley’s Executive Team set JAM People Consulting, their trusted partner in their Talent transformation journey.

Melding this key context with best practice talent management models and expertise, the next step was developing 4 strategic talent aims, which enabled the creation of an easily understood picture of the direction of travel. The aims were translated into Talent Programmes with supporting projects. A roadmap for achievement over the course of the business strategy was outlined, along with a detailed resourcing plan to demonstrate how to turn the ambitions into reality.

One of the key aspects of the support we offered was to equip the Employee Experience team to lead the strategy and embed the change. This was achieved through an agile approach and consultation throughout to prepare people for the mutual’s new direction.
